Half day or full day, and how to choose

A half day is four hours, a full day eight. It is not simply twice the time: it changes where the boat can go.

A half day works the closer ground: dorado, amberjack, bonito, and wahoo in season. It makes for a very good morning and it is what works best with children or with people who have never been out.

For bluefin tuna or blue marlin you need the full day. Those fish are where they are, the run takes its share of the day, and the good bite rarely falls at a convenient hour.

What it costs and when you pay

The price is per boat, not per person: a group of six pays what a couple pays. Trolling costs 750 € for a half day and 1,500 € for a full day. Live bait and jigging cost 700 € and 1,300 €.

You book with a 400 € deposit paid online by card. The balance is settled on board on the day.

The deposit is not an extra: it comes off the total. What it buys is that date held for you alone, which is precisely the point of a private charter.

What private actually means

It means the Astinor 1275 carries your group and nobody else. It also means the plan is built for you: the species you want, the technique you are comfortable with, and the departure time that suits the fishing rather than the booking sheet.

Groups of one to ten. The price is for the boat, not per person, so a group of six pays what a couple pays.

Two ways to charter it

With our crew. The boat goes out with our captain and crew. In this arrangement the fishing is covered by the boat’s collective recreational fishing licence: you do not need one of your own. Without crew. You can charter the boat bringing your own skipper, provided they hold the international qualification and documentation needed to command her. In that case each angler needs their own individual fishing licence, valid for three years. We can handle the paperwork, though the fees are yours.

On a crewless charter the boat is handed over with full tanks and must come back the same way.

What is included

All tackle, terminal gear, bait and licences for fishing from the boat. Ice for your catch. The captain and crew.

What to bring

Soft-soled shoes, sun protection, a hat, a light waterproof layer and any medication you need. If you are prone to seasickness, take something the night before, not on the morning.

What people ask before booking

Do I need experience? None. We take people who have never held a rod and people who fish competitively. The crew teaches the technique on board and matches the tackle to whoever is using it. What if the sea is bad? If the captain judges conditions unsafe, the trip is moved or the deposit returned. We never go out on a maybe. That call is his and it is not negotiated. Can I keep the fish? Tuna and table fish yes, and they leave on ice. Billfish are always released: blue marlin, white marlin and spearfish. How much notice to cancel? More than 15 days out, the deposit is returned in full, no reason needed. Between 15 and 3 days, a refund needs a genuine reason. Inside 3 days the deposit is not returned: unless the weather stops us: on a red warning nobody sails, and on a yellow one the captain decides. In that case you choose between a full refund and a new date. Are children welcome? Yes, and a half day works very well for them. Minors accompanied by a responsible adult.
