We are not tied to one port, and we are not limited to four islands. The whole archipelago is available to us: these four simply have the most demand and the clearest character. Where we actually sail is decided by the ocean that week.

Most charters leave from the same port every day because that is where the berth is. We change island following the fish.
That means in March we can be where the bluefin comes in and in September where the marlin is, which is rarely the same place. Eastern Fuerteventura and Lanzarote hold the best marlin odds; southern Tenerife and La Gomera give shelter when it blows.
If you are planning the trip, one honest piece of advice: do not book a non-refundable hotel before talking to us. It is easy to end up on the wrong island for your dates.
Deep water a few miles out
What makes this archipelago what it is, is the shape of the bottom. Around most of the islands it drops past a thousand metres a short run from shore.
In practice that means species which elsewhere cost you half a day of steaming are within reach of a normal day here, and sometimes half of one. Fewer hours under engine, more hours fishing.
Over that structure the thermal fronts form that concentrate bait, and behind the bait come the predators. It is the reason there is genuine big game fishing this close to land.

Why we will move island
If the analysis says the productive water is off another island (including one without a page here) staying put to save ourselves a steam would be dishonest. Populations shift within a season, sometimes within a week. We change port when the ocean says so. That is the practical meaning of following the fish, and it is why we do not sell a fixed departure point.
