The island where deep water sits closest to the coast. From Fuerteventura the run to fishable blue water is short, which means more of your day is spent fishing and less of it travelling.
Why Fuerteventura
We do not publish a fixed distance from port to fish, because there is none. Departure port and fishing ground are decided by the season and by where the activity actually is, and we go there, changing island when it makes sense.
So we recommend keeping your accommodation flexible: do not book expensive or non-refundable places far in advance. The fish move and we move with them. You are coming to fish, and the time that matters is spent aboard.
Fuerteventura is the easternmost of the main islands and the closest to the African shelf. The bottom drops away quickly, so the productive edge (the line where pelagics patrol) is reachable without a long steam.
That matters more than it sounds. On a four-hour trip, an hour saved each way is the difference between two hours of fishing and four.
It is also the island where the trade winds are most consistent, which shapes how and where we can work a spread.

This is our most frequent departure point, and where a half-day trip makes the most sense because of the short run.
If the analysis says the fish are elsewhere, we say so and we move. We would rather run to another island than sell you a comfortable day over empty water.
